Joel has lived in Walla Walla for the majority of his life and has worked in Walla Walla libraries for the past 10 years. He enjoys helping and interacting with the multitude of people in the community. Joel listens because he would like to learn more about the people that came before him and those who are the future of the community. Joel feels certain narratives have been dismissed within the community and he would like to know more about these experiences as they can be used to empower others.

Joel was born in Zacatecas, Mexico and was raised in Walla Walla. He is an artist (primarily 2d based) that likes to explore shared experience, surrealism, and multicultural upbringing in his work. When not doodling, he enjoys collecting comics, zines, 80’s ephemera, and artbooks. He also enjoys watching animation, films, and listening to music.
